@Wayne Schneider's questions:

• Output appears to be JSON-LD with one JSON object (graph) per instance. Export ontology looks like BIBFRAME 2. How is this converted from native storage (builde ontology), and is this conversion available for review by users?

  • @Alvaro Rodrigo Lopez Bustamante answered that the conversion was developed with test records that were converted from MARC to builde RDF, then to BIBFRAME 2. The conversion output was compared against the output from the LC marc2bibframe2 converter as applied to the original MARC record. The target benchmark is the published LC MARC to BIBFRAME 2 specifications. Details currently documented in Jira tickets.

    • @Nancy Lorimer noted that LC released BIBFRAME 3 including elements of the performed music ontology last week.

• Demonstrated export workflow is entirely UI-based. Are there plans for a more API-based approach that would lend itself better to automation for use cases like harvesting into an external linked data store?

  • @Alvaro Rodrigo Lopez Bustamante answered that the approach was to replicate the inventory MARC export workflow using existing FOLIO components like the Data Export app. He notes that of course underneath this are all documented APIs.

    • @Wayne Schneider noted that the APIs are quite complex and not really documented for the use case of automation (a developer would need to reverse engineer a client based on observation of API calls made by the UI); perhaps a simpler API could be imagined.
