Creating and Assigning Authorization Roles for Bulk Edit in FOLIO
This guide outlines the steps for creating and assigning custom authorization roles in FOLIO. These roles enable users to access the Bulk Edit app and its settings, allowing access rights to be configured according to the library’s needs.
Create a New Authorization Role
Navigate to FOLIO → Settings and select Authorization roles.
Click the New button and on the Create role form fill out the 'Name” (required), and “Description” (optional) fields
Click the Select application button and search for the Bulk edit application.
Note: The application version may differ from the one shown in the screenshot below.
Assigning Capability Sets to the Authorization Role
Once the application is selected, the Capacity sets accordion will populate, allowing you to grant levels of access.
Under Data, grant permissions to Bulk edit application. For example, the following settings allow users to access the Bulk Edit app, edit inventory and user records, and view Bulk Edit logs.:
Under Settings grant, permissions to view the setting pages for Bulk edit. . You can define whether the user can view only, create/edit, or delete existing profiles. You can also grant permissions to lock or unlock existing profiles.
Under Procedural ,select the Execute option to grant users to Query tab:
Click the Save & close button to save changes. Once the role is saved, there should be a number listed under Capability sets and Capabilities:
Assigning Authorization Role to a User
Via Authorization Rules
Go to Settings → Authorization rules, click the Assign/Unassign button:
Via User Profile
Navigate to the user’s profile and assign the role under the User roles section.
