Draft MARC records
Creating draft records
Please use this space to add any use cases you may have for creating a draft MARC bibliographic or authority record in quickMARC.
Use case | Description | |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Cataloger is interrupted | Sometimes a cataloger is interrupted by a colleague in the middle of creating a record and has to leave their workstation. We would like to be able to save the record as a draft (in progress state) where it is not passed through to the OPAC or discovery layer(s) so we can come back to it and continue. |
| 2 | More research is needed | When creating authority records, additional research is needed to fully identify the person, corporate entity, etc. Being able to save a draft version would allow the creator to come back to the record as many times as needed to flesh out the record. |
| 3 | Record needs approval before completion | Some libraries have workflows that require review and approval of records by a more experienced individual. |
| 4 | Template record | Sometimes a cataloger has a set of original records to create that all have the same base fields for which they’d like to save a template record. |
