  • Folder which houses documentation on unmediated requesting

  • Mostly user stories; feel free to add information as you see fit

• 'Unmediated patron requesting' is defined differently across consortia & libraries.  Points of discussion include:

  • single vs. cross-tenant functionality

    • Does this idea get more complicated by FOLIO's micro services structure?  Would this require all parties be on the same release?  

  • borrowing functionality in FOLIO vs. using an outside software such as ReShare or ILLiad

    • Preference by most in the group is to have functionality inside FOLIO

  • ability to verify and document patrons without the need to download ALL patrons into FOLIO

    • How does a library provision a first-time user in their system?

    • Are there ways to do so without manually creating a new user?  Or checking an outside system for authentication?

  • General consensus that the group prefers Option #1 under the Checkout Requirements section

  • Discussion about consortial issues from an administrative perspective vs. those from consortial libraries sharing a single tenant

  • How do we keep track?  

  • Corrie volunteered to start a document tracking individual libraries in a single tenants requests for review.

• How do we help small libraries implement FOLIO?  Is a shared tenant the best way?

• FOLIO relies heavily on API, DevOps experts which can create complications for libraries without an IT expert or librarian with systems knowledge

  • Further complication: different countries governing laws and practices

  • How does hosting play into this discussion?

• Impacts implementation, not just ongoing maintenance

• Improved cross-tenant functionality would alleviate the issues of putting too many libraries on a single tenant

  • Bridges vs. walls: bridges between tenants or walls within a single tenant?

• Which SIG is the best place to take these questions?  Is this within the scope of this SIG?
