Current behavior examples

  • from Cornell’s testing site (Sunflower)

  • Orders App

    • having a filter selected rewrites a pasted url to include the latest filter

    • If the url you are sharing contains at least one filter then the behavior is different

    • Group logged into bugfest and tested sharing

      • if filter is explicitly set in URL they are overwritten, but if they are set locally and stored they will remain.

      • If q index is set explicitly in url (everything except keyword) then it overwrites.

  • Receiving App

    • works like Orders App

  • Inventory App

    • Nothing sticks

  • Organizations

    • Nothing sticks

  • Invoices

    • Nothing sticks

prepare to get feedback from SIGs on search defaults/filter behavior

  • Just take to Acq SIG? Do Order’s app users want this?

    • Is the persistence of filters for yourself useful?

      • Good question for all SIGs

    • Is this exact implementation of persisting filters useful? Does this implementation solve the use case of a user wanting the same set of filters selected regularly?

Use cases

  • Mobius - like the idea of sticky filters inside same user session - want to be able to have a default filter when a user logs into Inventory

    • need to be able to turn off the default filter though

    • need to know it is defaulted “on” and turn off as necessary

    • Examples from Cornell, Stanford - default filter by “campus” would be useful
