  • Met 5/8 - topic of discussion mostly around Eureka migration

  • Right now with current release of Ramsons there is an Okapi version and a Eureka version.

  • Not aware of anyone already live who have migrated from Okapi to Eureka.

  • Only EBSCO has run Eureka so far.

  • Might need to adjust the Sunflower timeline to make sure Eureka is operational.

  • Sunflower targeted to come out May 19.

  • Not aware of any library currently running Ramsons.

    • Joe Reimers (EBSCO) 8:06 AM
Some libraries are running Ramsons, but I'm dealing with a lot of "we just went live", so it's still pretty new

    • Ramsons uptake is still very much at the "just getting started" stage

  • Once Trillium comes out, support for Ramsons will end.

  • Self-hosted trying to test how to get Eureka running.

  • Migrate to Ramsons Okapi → Ramsons Eureka → Sunflower Eureka

  • Don’t want to hold up people migrating to Sunflower or release of Trillium, but some concerns that there will be a large section of community not ready to move to Eureka.

  • Jeremy Huff (TAMU) working on feasibility plan to see how much it would cost to support Ramsons for longer.

  • Permissions some of the most complicated part with Eureka vs Okapi.

Serials Management App - Ramsons / Sunflower

RAMSONS

  • :15 - UXPROD-5105 Serials Management: Support ECS central ordering for receiving piece creation

    • Works where order is done by central/main tenant. Does not yet support situation where that is mixed with other tenants also ordering for themselves.

  • :18 - UXPROD-4899 Serials Management: Improve the serials publication pattern template editor options

    • For template have had to remember special tokens for bringing in data

    • Can now copy tokens which are included every time something is added

  • :21 - UXPROD-4895 Serials Management: Manage publication patterns

    • Previously, stuck with a publication pattern and couldn’t edit once created.

    • Now you can edit if it hasn’t already been used to create issues.

    • As long as it has a predicted piece set available, cannot delete, but if there is a minor change can use copy and deprecate option.

image-20250509-132334.png
  • Patterns are not shared between Serials. Deleting one never effects another serial.

  • Deprecated patterns remain in the system.

  • Can delete predicted piece set as long as pieces have not been generated in receiving.

  • :29 - UXPROD-4923 Serials Management: Avoid accidental creation of duplicate piece sets

image-20250509-132909.png
  • UXPROD-4576 Serials Management: Manage predicted pieces

image-20250509-132653.png
  • UXPROD-4894 Serials Management: Auto-populate starting values for predicted pieces

  • UXPROD-4897 Support generating predicted pieces for multiple years or cycles at one time

    • Now can do multiple number of years/cycles.

    • For daily publications can be a large number of issues. - Can start to see performance issues, trouble with errors midway through, etc.

    • As long as total number of issues being generated does not extend beyond 365, can generate.

    • Might leave you with unwanted issues down the line if pattern changes.

  • ~:38 - Discussion regarding funding and development.

  • :41 - UXPROD-4894 Publication pattern templates

    • Creating publication patterns can be complicated.

    • Need some expertise to do it and even if you know what you’re doing, it still can be time consuming.

    • Templates can be set up on tenant by tenant basis.

    • At the moment have to add by API call, would like to see in UI.

    • Once populated, get a list:

image-20250509-134208.png
  • :42 - Looked at datasets with reusable templates - For the most part, don’t get reused because of small differences.

  • With template, select for example monthly template and it fills out everything for you.

  • If that’s all that’s needed, can select save & close.

  • If issue uses number, not issue, can make a minor change from what the template loads.

  • :46 - Can have as many templates as you want, but 50 seems like high side.

  • GBV ended up with 26 options to cover majority of their needs.

  • Each template has a name (in bold), a description, and an example label

image-20250509-134721.png
  • Can search for all of the monthly, weekly, etc.

  • Also has a numbering scheme, so if you know what number it is, can go directly to it.

  • All definable by library.

  • Possibly, might make an even shorter process in the future where you can add from template and not even go into edit screen.
