EDIFACT Claiming requirements analysis
Description
Pieces in the Receiving app can now support statuses of “Late”, “Claim sent”, “Claim delayed” and “Unreceivable.” Libraries want the ability to have FOLIO generate claims via EDIFACT similar to generating EDIFACT orders.
Based on feedback from the community, there is a need for libraries to be able to review pending claims prior to sending those claims in order to verify that the pieces are, in fact, late in arriving rather than delayed on the publisher side.
Approach
Enable FOLIO to identify pieces with a status of Late
Enable claims-specific integrations
Claims integrations need to be independent of order integrations
Apply similar business logic as used in Orders to generate EDI claims and transmit using Export Manager
Requirements and use cases
Requirement | Status | Use case |
---|---|---|
System must automatically identify pieces in a late/claimable status | confirmed | Library wants a ready-to-review list of all pieces to be claimed without having to search title-by-title and piece-by-piece |
Library staff must be able to approve claims before sending | confirmed | Library needs to verify that the piece ordered has not arrived, but also that it has been published. Pieces not yet published should not be claimed. |
Pieces should be arranged per vendor | confirmed | Libraries claim vendor by vendor rather than reviewing a complete list of all missing pieces. Each vendor receives a claim for all missing pieces. |
