Action items

  • Jacob will talk to EBSCO about sending a rep to our f2f meeting
  • Kim will send information about logistics for the f2f meeting, including hotels
  • Jacob and Filip will draft an agenda for the f2f meeting
  • Paula and Jacob will coordinate a set of interviews at Texas A&M
  • The group will review the GBV/HBZ requirements catalog for items related to acquisition and ERM (Section 3.3)

Focus groups

  • The FOLIO Forum that Jacob presented about research methods generated a lot of comments and discussion
  • He would like a better way to collect more feedback on the topic
  • Jacob is planning to conduct two focus groups with up to 10 people each to further discuss research methods
  • He will work with the Facilitators group to plan and set a time frame for these sessions

Direction for RM group

  • We returned to the discussion about splitting into two groups: scholarly communications and business operations
  • For the business operations group, Filip Jakobsen would probably take over the leadership role from Jacob
  • Jacob would lead the scholarly communications group and help facilitate communication between the two
  • At least one functional expert will need to be present on both groups

RM f2f meeting

  • The in-person meeting of the RM group has been confirmed for Nov. 29-30 at MIT in Boston, MA.
  • The goal of the meeting will be to discuss concrete requirements for an RM (and ERM) solution
  • Confirmed attendees include:
    • Jacob Jaskov
    • Filip Jakobsen
    • Kim Maxwll
    • Kristen Martin
    • Kristen Wilson
    • Eric Hartnett
  • The group also agreed that the following people or roles would be beneficial to have present:
    • Marc Johnson
    • Someone from EBSCO
    • Someone from Index Data
  • We discussed topics stemming from Jacob's work that will need to be explored in a practical way
  • Potential topics include:
    • The role of a community knowledge base for metadata, catalog records, etc.
    • The role of EBSCO in supporting shared metadata
    • The role of GOKb in supporting or informing shared metadata
    • Other types of metadata we are interested in sharing
    • The results of Jacob's Charleston pre-conference
    • Functional matrix requirements
    • The requirements catalog produced by GBV and HBZ
    • How to better collect and make use of usage data

Jacob's visit to Texas A&M

  • Jacob is planning to visit Texas A&M the week of Nov. 7 to conduct interviews
  • He is aiming to talk with faculty, students, ERM librarians, and scholarly communications librarians
  • Jacob and Paula will coordinate the visit
