PC update | Sprint Review- June 8th Sprint 114-115
Sprint reviews are also posted on the Open Library Foundation's YouTube channel. "The highlight at Tuesday’s sprint review meeting was Owen demoing a new dash board for ERM. Starts around 6:00" ; "The cool thing is that the dash board has been developed so it’s generic, and can be used for all other apps than the suite of ERM apps" ; "We just need to develop app specific widgets. We could develop a cool MM dash board" - from "Charlotte" via chat Laura encouraged members to joint the App Interaction SIG's next meeting, "In our next meeting the App Interaction SIG will discuss about expected solutions - everyone is invited to join the discussion" from the meeting minutes As a community, Laura spoke about revisiting the purpose of the Inventory app. She would like us as a SIG to talk about this Data integrity/Data Flow issue: Based on May 27 meeting about this, PC is forming a Task Force to look into this. The Task Force will look at the work to be done and come up with a time frame. Members of the task force: Members of MM SIG, Product Owners for Data Import, QuickMARC, Single Record Import, Inventory, or designees. Draft Charge Manage data integrity so we're not locked into one particular type of data. Christie - Would like the Task Force define the scope going forward. She sees a lot of the work is to look at origin Felix (via chat) - "Is the task force also addressing data integrity issues related to Inventory - Order integration etc., or only SRS - Inventory integration?" Jenn (via chat) - "I think that is a good question Felix, I don’t think we know yet. there is also the app interaction meeting tomorrow that might give us some more ideas about what is happening there" Christie and Jessica both commented on how FOLIO has a built in dependency on MARC. Many members agreed via chat. Jacquie (via chat) - "Somehow we've gotten to a place where almost all the MARC has to be in Inventory in order to find records with it." Jesse (via chat) - "also, lets say we ONLY used dublin core, standards and integrity would still have to be solved for any consistent use" Jacquie (via chat) - "Agree, data integrity issues are NOT wrapped around MARC, it is all over the place in FOLIO." Jessica (via chate) - "I also agree with Jacquie's comment that some of the inventory scope creep is coming from the fact that there is no way to search MARC data within FOLIO. If you want to search it, it has to be in inventory." "It would be good for us to check our original vision - maybe this is something that we need to do as the mm sig outside of this task group." - Christie (via chat)

Charlotte (via chat) - "The ballot is send out by Harry Kaplanian. But for several us it’s going into the Spam folder"

As soon as they have a better place to put this info, it will get moved to an administrative data note on the instance. They use a macro in FOLIO For order info - they will use statistical codes. Example: Note Type Creation (need permission) Settings > Inventory> Holdings note types > New Holdings note data can be searched by query search and can be searched in the LDP. Christie warned that searching holdings notes may work better if you get that field indexed. If it is not indexed, it will take so long, it will probably time out. A system provider can provide a local search index. |
