- Aug 26 Demo of FOLIO acquisition modules
Agenda items
- Approval process on vendor/platform side
- Further discussion about Agreements/Contracts
- Outstanding topics, please add any topics that have not yet been discussed, or those that you feel need more discussion to fully understand the issues
Minutes
- Approval beeing send to vendor platform
- OS: If/How do you manage approvals with the publishers?
- CP: Yes, it happens, email, funding request in platform dashboard, login and click and agree; Frontiers does not have notifications, have to check on regular basis
- AO: agreed, but also via Invoices or Spreadsheets
- OS: In case of spreadsheet, are there IDs for matching with articles in spreadsheet?
- AO: yes, DOI
- OS: do platforms offer kind of automated processes/integration?
- not known
- BM/OS: Do you need to track the approval on publisher side in FOLIO?
- CP: If this is the first information about the publication, yes, but if just the approval, there is no need to record
- OS: If reject, then record this?
- CP: Yes, e.g. for book funding for later processing
- MW/SG: Yes, track if requested + reasons and approved
- OS: Are there situations where you have the author request before on the publ dashboard?
- SG: Yes, then we wait weeks or month for the article in the dashboard
- AO: There are author rejections as well; go back to the author and ...
- OS: In Read and Publish IOP - what is the event where do you get the information about article?
- AO: The invoice will list all individual articles OR via dashboard
- Agreement type of information
- OS: Terms on the document Read an Publish, Membership and Prepay agreements, Publ. consortium deal, Subscribe to Open
- IOP Publishing Consortium ; how is this different to other agreements?
- How does payment work?
- AO: Subscribe to open has no limitation
- Read and Publish you pay a fee to read journals from title list and get some publ rights certain number or discount = is that correct?
- What is the important difference to other agreements?
- AO: Maybe only strategic; Subscribe to open is about "if enough subscriber pay within a year it's OA, if next year not enough subsriber that switch back to closed"; transformational agreeements are about real OA forever, with every phase different calculations with aim of complete OA
- OS: Prepay Membership
- OS: How would I describe the agreements?
- OS: APC exemption (with constraints), APC discount (with constraints), Billing options (Advance payment/invoicing/mix)
- AO: You describe the way how to achieve; but we want to know what we get; Hybrid OA, Full OA (conditions on the articles)
- OS: How can we express that? What I described are values of agreements, but we need the outcome for institution; does that make sense?
- AO: Yes, e.g. Subscribe to open doesn't necessarily result in OA; Articles in gold journals, articles in hybrid journals, infrastructure support
- OS: How do you know which journals are hybrid/gold etc if this is a criteria in agreement?
- OS: If/How do you manage approvals with the publishers?
...
- MW: DOAJ
- CP: Publisher lists
- MW: EZB
- AO: Sherpa/Romeo
- OS: On Thieme Journals, the few mentioned journals, did you choose it?
- MW: not publisher decided
