Ingolf showed Josh's repo for FOLIO k8s deployment: https://github.com/inkuss/sul-folio-k8s/ and told, how far he got in deploying with this. It has a Wiki and a step-by-step deployment prescription. Ingolf forked the Repo to https://github.com/inkuss/sul-folio-k8s/ and created a sub-branch "test-deploy". A script created the Helm charts for platform-complete in this Branch. Ingolf is at Step 5 at https://github.com/sul-dlss/folio-k8s/wiki/Getting-started-in-Development , need to install Ruby to continue. Josh had offered to Ingolf to demo the Stanford way of deploying FOLIO one time in Sys Ops. Another way to Deploy FOLIO on k8s is to use BVB public FOLIO Helm repo: https://gitlab.bib-bvb.de/folio-public/folio-helm . Ingolf has worked with this for a longer time, already, and is at a stage to deploy the modules, also those who require a postgres db, and register them to okapi. He is facing issues with Deployment on worker nodes. Nodes have "taints and tolerations". Init scripts succeeded, but Deplyoments stay on "red". Florian provides a fix for this. Ingolf faces a known issue of the init scripts (can't find required file), Ingolf needs to go back and fix this. Also, next error pops up from Kafka. Florian offers to demo the use of the BVB repo and the way how Munich depoy on November 27th here in the Sys Ops SIG! The third way Ingolfs mentions to deploy is the official, folio-org repo https://github.com/folio-org/folio-helm-v2 . Ingolf has also worked with this. This method is similar to the Stanford method. At some points, the Stanford repo makes use of this public repo. A fourth Repo to deploy FOLIO on Kubernetes is the TAMU way, https://github.com/folio-org/folio-install/blob/master/alternative-install/kubernetes-rancher/TAMU/folio_setup.md . Jason has recently updated all the contents, Trent has taken over to use this. The YAMLs in this repo have been around for the longest time. In this Repo, Helm charts are not being used, yet. Finally, a fifth way Ingolf mentions to deply FOLIO is being described here https://github.com/folio-org/eureka-platform-bootstrap . It has a detailed prescription. Ingolf did not take the time to go thru this, yet. This repo deploys FOLIO in the new Eureka formalism on a single server ! Discussion:
Ingolf's dream is that one day we will have a single repo which fits all purposes (Eureka, Upgrades, Helm sharing, ...) and which all will use and contribute to. | ||||
