 Description

FOLIO uses Jira, one of the leading issue tracking systems, for development. It is highly configurable, suits software development well, but requires a significant amount of attention.
How about implementing an additional, free, lightweight ticketing app within FOLIO to support day to day tasks of technical and library personnel ?
Tickets could contain “links” to apps and panes within FOLIO and allow “clicking” directly on the appropriate item, patron etc.

Hi Ingolf Kuss. Thank you for this submission! We still need to work out the formal App Ideas process with the PC, but we wanted to expedite the review of this one so it could be considered as part of the upcoming prioritization effort. We had a look and realized there seemed to be quite a bit of overlap with another project in the backlog (To Do App, UXPROD-599 Open ). Filip Jakobsen, the designer of the To Do App, reviewed this submission and thought there was almost complete overlap in terms of problems addressed. Please have a look at UXPROD-599 Open when you have a moment and let us know if you agree. For now, we have linked your app idea (now UXPROD-849 Closed ) to the To Do epic.

Hi Cate Boerema, I am glad you and Filip Jakobsen see it the same way (slide 5 in 2018-05-03_FOLIO_Ticketing_App_Proposal_02.pptx ). Some "custom fields" will be useful/necessary for a lightweight ticketing app, but it looks like a lot of it is already there/in progress. Perhaps permissions will be a bit more tricky for ticketing... Also reporting is needed.

Cate Boerema I am not sure if we should estimate it if it's a dupe. I put some totally rough numbers here anyway.

Hi Jakub Skoczen and Cate Boerema, I agree that estimates should count only once. At a quick glance there might be a significant overlap between to-do and lightweight ticketing - hoping to find out when discussing it next. Still I assume that a few additional requirements will result from the ticketing functionality. Those could be added to the ToDo app and have their own estimate. If this works out, this issue probably does not need estimates on it's own...
