 Description

Description:
Patrons able to authn using multiple authn systems for cases where a non-member patron walks in from another library and is added to FOLIO to enable circulation for items. Since that patron does not officially belong to the greater university or organization, they cannot me added to the local identity provider. A feature needs to be aded to FOLIO that allows authentication to other identity options if the local service rejects the patron.

Notes:
Whatever Discovery platform you use, FOLIO needs to be able to authn the users for requests, renewals, etc
For "ring down" FOLIO needs to be configurable for:

  • Additional identity providers that can be used and
  • FOLIO to become an identity provider for that user as well

Is the focus on offering different auth methods in general with Folio? Or is it about offering one user different authentication options? Maybe similar concern to https://folio-org.atlassian.net/browse/UXPROD-778

Björn Muschall, This simply does not have enough detail to come to a conclusion to your question. But I think UXPROD-778 Open certainly covers the different SSO options FOLIO needs to support. So I'm going to take the liberty in further defining this feature as a "ring-down" that can be used for libraries that use SSO but need to support "walk in patrons" that most likely cannot be added to the campus SSO.
