 Description

During prep for WOLFcon, Andrea noticed that you could check something out and, if you had selected Renew from = Current due date, you could immediately renew it. If you had a loan period of 3 months, you could immediately make it 6 or 9 (depending on the renewal limits in place).

Discussed with the SIG and they agreed that ideally you should be able to specify a number of days prior to the current due date at which time the renewal would be allowed. That said, many systems today don't offer this feature and people felt it wasn't a must-have for v1. Recorded in loan policy metadata document as well: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1f8kX2mGub3ARPml4x3Ejaq1UsBeGP3xxLWbVk_DTgqg/edit#gid=0

This is absolutely a go-live for Duke since we have unlimited renewals for many of our patrons, and have relied on a feature like this to stop patrons from immediately giving themselves, say, a four year loan on an item.

Comment from the March meeting : the ability to pull a CSV or get to the data is a must .

We had this in Sierra, but it applied to all loans, regardless of whether renewals occurred from due date or system date. There was a maximum number of days before the current due date that renewals were permitted (eg. 6mo loan period wouldn't permit renewals until 28 days before the current due date). We're missing this functionality in FOLIO, and it makes it somewhat bothersome to try and implement low renewal count limits for rolling loan periods (fixed loan periods get around this, mostly), as users can quickly blow through their allowed renewals. As EDS doesn't currently support bulk renewal of loans we're not encountering it too much, but it eventually will and then this could become a problem.
