 Description

NCIP is one protocol used to make service requests and to fulfill the same requests. See: http://www.ncip.info/introduction-to-ncip.html. This protocol covers several ILL and resource sharing scenarios as well as self-check stations.

Notes: This is probably a must have for V1.

ARL: This must be in place from the get go. OLE partners rely on it for self-check, D2D, etc. Also, it is vital that FOLIO demonstrate that it will be standards complaint from the outset. THis really depends on the 1st libraries to adopt FOLIO. THis is very important, but could be delayed if the 1st library does not need it.

Note: Lehigh has offered to take this on with an internal team, as they require this for Relais/D2D integration.

Changing all the external system integration features into epics. While this will extend the epic list by 7 items, these really are all mini-projects that can be assigned to teams and have POs and priorities. In that regard, they make sense as epics. I will deprecate the old External Systems Integrations epic.

Actually, I should leave these as features and clone them to create epics. I will change this back to a new feature and link it up to UXPROD-991 Closed (a new, cloned epic).

Hi Michelle Suranofsky! Welcome to the project I hear you will be working on this feature so I went ahead and made you the assignee. For UXPROD features, the product owners (not the developers) are the assignees. Let me know if this doesn't make sense.

I'm also going to assign you to the epic for this project ( UXPROD-991 Closed )

Best!

Cate

NOTE: the ranks here were made for a combined NCIP and SIP2 feature.

Comment by Peter Murray [ 23/Jul/18 ]

Hi, Michelle Suranofsky! I heard that you were planning to use the eXtensible Catalog NCIP2-Toolkit. It is MIT licensed, I think...and I believe that is compatible with the Apache 2 being used by FOLIO. I created FOLIO-1368 Closed to be sure.

Comment by Michelle Suranofsky [ 09/Aug/18 ]

Peter Murray Thank you for that! Who gives the 'stamp of approval' on things like this?

Comment by Cate Boerema (Inactive) [ 19/Sep/18 ]

Assigning Development Team = Lehigh, as dev team assignment is required for the capacity model updates.

Comment by Peter Murray [ 19/Sep/18 ]

I closed FOLIO-1368 Closed regarding the license compatibility. The MIT license is very permissive, so we should be able to use it. How we acknowledge it is another matter. I don't have an answer for that at the moment, but that shouldn't block progress on this feature.

What is meant by service requests/fulfillment in this context?

Comment by Cate Boerema (Inactive) [ 10/Oct/18 ]

Apologies, folks. I did a bulk import from a list with old feature summaries and accidentally overwrote the name with the old name. I just changed it back again. This feature is only about NCIP (SIP2 is covered in UXPROD-1002 Closed ).

Theodor Tolstoy (One-Group.se), I think this feature title is carry-over from the original v1 roadmap. I am not sure "service requests/fulfillment" is particularly meaningful... We could change it to "NCIP: Protocol for ILL, Resource Sharing and Self Checkout". Would that make more sense? What do you think Michelle Suranofsky?

Comment by Theodor Tolstoy (One-Group.se) [ 17/Oct/18 ]

That makes it much more easy to understand for me. Thank you Cate Boerema!

Cate Boerema sorry for coming back to this. Does the fact that this is not targeted for Q4 mean that NCIP support won't be there at all?

No, Michelle Suranofsky has targeted several features for Q4 release.

I actually think this particular feature is probably redundant at this point. It was originally created as a clone of the epic just to give us a feature we could have ranked. Michelle has since created more detailed features. I think this should be closed/deleted. I'll check with Michelle.

Michelle told me this could be closed by chat. Will do so.
