 Description

Current situation or problem:

If you make the browser window quite narrow, then horizontal scroll bars appear at the bottom of the first and second columns. For the third column, there is usually no such bar, because the contents of that column are rearranged so that they are distributed more downward than to the right. However, if the third column contains a table that is both deeper and wider than the pane, then horizontal scrolling is needed.

Example use cases

  1. Orders: Looking at the PO Lines accordion on an order > the table that displays the list of POLs is too wide for all columns to be displayed without scrolling. By that, the user cannot get an overview over all available information without further clicking or scrolling. It is not possible to see all information at a glance.
  2. Inventory: Looking at the Acquisitions accordion on an Instance record > the table that displays the list of related POLs is too wide for all columns to be displayed without scrolling. By that, the user cannot get an overview over all available information without further clicking or scrolling. It is not possible to see all information at a glance.

Requirement

It should be easy to focus on specific areas, but even more to easily get back or to "unfocus" again.

As ** a user I need to get an overview on all information. The need is to be able to focus on the relevant information. Ideally, as a user I could focus on specific panes or on MCLs, e.g. by clicking on a related icon (like a magnifying glass).

The panes or MCLs should be opened in a separate modal - that seems easier than an extra tab which would be more difficult to close and to get back to the original screen to - that would be more clicking, although users can switch between tabs with Ctrl+Shift.

Actions needed:

  • focus
  • "unfocus"

The relevant icon should be next to the pane repsectively MCL. Additionally, there should be keyboard shortcuts to focus/unfocus.

Martina.Schildt  - would this requirement (https://folio-org.atlassian.net/browse/UIIN-2727) address the problem outlined in this feature?

Khalilah Gambrell sorry I did not spot UIIN-2727 In Refinement , it adresses the issue. I am just wondering, would it apply to all MCL use cases across apps or is it just for Inventory?
