 Description

Current situation or problem:

Placeholder for adding for incorporating elements of the BiblioGraph internal data viewer into the Marva BIBFRAME editor.

We will want to enhance the Marva editor to allow libraries the ability to manage resource descriptions in the aggregate, in addition to transactionally at the title level.

The cataloger, for example, would be able to analyze certain properties of the collection to identify duplicate URIs, or edit URIs.

In the example below, the cataloger might be editing instance components for the book "12 rules for life" by Jordan Peterson (here shown in a Thin Thread environment).

The enhancement to Marva would allow the cataloger to select any link from the resource description and invoke Data Graph functionality that enables the cataloger to see more details about the link, such as:

  • Core data (types, provenance, fingerprint, etc.)
  • Outgoing links (to Creator, to subject headings)
  • Incoming links (instantiates)

Currently this functionality is tied with the BiblioGraph product, which will continue to operate as a separate / distinct product from BIBFRAME/Marva. For this feature, we would incorporate Data Graph functionality within Marva so that catalogers could toggle from a cataloging view to a linked data view.

The internal data graph viewer extends management capabilities as libraries adopt linked data functionality.

Key question: what level of functionality is needed for Ramsons? post-Ramsons?
