 Description

Current situation or problem:

Right now individual MARC records are exported by clicking a button in the search results in the second pane of the inventory screen. However the decision to export a single record is often made by examining it after opening it in the third pane. Having an export action in the third pane menu reduces the cognitive load of exporting records. Additionally, if a user is linked to a specific record from elsewhere, say data import or an email from a colleague, there is no set of search results from which to select a record to export so the user must search for the HRID they already have in order to do their export.

In scope

Adding an export action for a single record export from the third pane action menu

Out of scope

Selecting multiple records for export

Use case(s)

  • Exporting a record after receiving a link from a colleague
  • Exporting a record after following a link from data import
  • Exporting a record after following a link from the order app
