The ability to transform BIBFRAME resource descriptions into MARC format
In order to
- Share/contribute data to MARC-based cooperative cataloging programs
- Support copy cataloging workflows based on MARC
- Make BIBFRAME descriptions available/consumable with MARC-based systems
The scope of this feature is limited to
- resource descriptions created for a new Work or Instance
- resource descriptions where the source changes from 'MARC' to 'BIBFRAME'
The creation of MARC records derived from the transformation of resource descriptions assumes that validation rules have been successfully applied to the resource descriptions.
See spreadsheet with LC's conversion of BIBFRAME 2 to MARC specifications (versions 2.3 and 2.4), BF2 to MARC LC - v2.4 and v.2.3
