 Description

SAVE BIB RESOURCE

Purpose / Objective

  • As a cataloger, when I'm working on a bibliographic resource description, I need to be able to save the work in progress

Current state / Problem statement

  • Catalogers have the ability to . . .

In scope

  • Passively saving changes made to a record (e.g. every x seconds)
  • Allowing the cataloger to make an explicit action to save a record
  • Some way of indicating that the record has been saved
  • Support for 'Suppress' function - indicating that a resource description should not be displayed to patrons

Out of scope

  • Related to 'Restore'

Considerations / Questions

FOLIO does not currently support the concept of a 'Work in Progress' -> records (or resource descriptions) saved to the database are presumably made available for discovery . . . unless the cataloger has explicitly selected the 'suppress from discovery' option.

Will need to square this approach with BIBFRAME
