 Description

CUSTOMIZE WORKSPACE

Purpose / Objective

  • As a cataloger, I need the ability to customize my workspace so that I have the tools and displays I need to be productive.

Current state / Problem statement

  • Cataloging work can be a time-intensive online activity. Catalogers use customization options to organize their workspaces to their advantage. They expect to have such options available to them in the BIBFRAME environment.

In scope

  • Identifying individual catalogers, recording their preferences and displaying them automatically as they log into the module
  • Color layouts – to create different types of contrast
  • Control over how panels (navigation, canvas, preview) are displayed/rendered
  • Control over how record elements are organized, displayed, and hidden within a panel
  • ‘Favorite’ settings, e.g. to set the most commonly used profile templates for cataloging

Out of scope

  • The profile templates (workforms) themselves See Edit - Forms
  • Customizing fonts
  • Customizing headers

Considerations / Questions

  • Determining the range of options for each customization option
  • Where/how to store the options
  • Default settings for all customizable options

Discussed with LC on Nov. 15 - agreed to talk with catalogers via a survey asking them about preferences and priorities for customization features. For example, we might list 5-8 types of customization (e.g. color palette, font size) and ask them to rank them in order of priority
