 Description

Update July 28, 2023: Based on further evaluations of LOC requirements, we have determined that separate address label printing functionality is not required at this time; the ability to export organization information to external systems will suffice.

Current situation or problem: Libraries belonging to exchange programs need to configure and print labels in order to ship materials to other exchange program members. Labels need to access current data in organization records.

Please note that the current user is using Crystal Reports, however, a "universal" solution is preferred if possible. Crystal Reports documentation (included below) is for reference and clarity.

In scope

  • Allow third-party products (such as Crystal Reports) to pull organization-related information from FOLIO for the purposes of creating labels
  • Investigate allowing applications other than shipping labels to use the same process for pulling information from FOLIO for the purpose of creating and printing forms, labels and similar templates.

Questions

Do we want to create a label generator or simply allow for third-party products to access certain fields for label printing purposes?

What version of Crystal Reports is currently being used?
