| Description |
|
Current situation or problem: Some large library systems with multiple acquisition units and locations order serials on behalf of other acquisition units and/or locations, and have materials sent directly to these other locations for receiving. Currently FOLIO only permits receiving operations within a given acquisitions unit. In scope Allow staff creating orders to designate receiving locations for serials, even if those locations are outside the ordering acquisition unit Allow specific acquisitions units or locations to receive materials purchased by another acquisitions unit or location Prevent unauthorized receiving units/locations from receiving materials not designated for that unit/location, even if that unauthorized receiving unit was the ordering unit Create appropriate additional order-associated information to designate valid receiving Create and assign appropriate permissions Out of scope Claims remain with the ordering unit. Viewing order, POL and invoice information outside a user's assigned acq unit Use case(s) Main campus library manages and pays for multiple subscriptions for a given journal. One subscription goes to the Law library, which has its own acq unit and locations. Law staff should be able to receive and process issues and add them to their collection. Proposed solution/stories Designate valid recipients of subscriptions at the point of order Restrict receiving of subscriptions to designated recipients Restrict receiving of subscriptions by designated recipients to their own locations or units Links to additional info Questions Should receiving be associated with acq units, locations or some other criteria? |

Dennis Bridges Not sure where to mention this, but the common solution I've seen in other ILSes is simply to differentiate between ordering location and receiving location, without regard for acquisition units. |
