 Description

Current situation or problem:
Libraries can currently configure some fast-add behavior per tenant in Settings > Inventory > Instances, Holdings, Items.

This includes whether the instance is suppressed from discovery by default.

Some libraries would like the ability to configure suppress from discovery according to the app where Fast Add was used. E.g., they want Fast Add records created from the Courses app to be available in discovery by default, but they want fast add records created from the Check out app to be suppressed by default.

In scope

  • Development of Settings > Inventory > Instance, Holdings, Items > Fast add to allow specification of suppress from discovery by app

Out of scope

  • Changes to the Fast Add from UI other than whether the suppress from discovery box is checked or unchecked.

Use case(s)

  • A library creates many records for course reserves using the Fast Add interface in Courses, and wants those records to be in discovery. Unchecking the box in the Courses app reduces the clicks for staff and potential for error in making records available. At the same time, the library still wants records created from the Check out app to be suppressed by default, since those records usually relate to item errors that need to be cleaned up once the item is returned.

I wonder if a better approach would be to allow for different FastAdd templates.
