Suggested by Jacquie Samples/Duke Being able to create a MARC Holdings via Importing a MARC Bib (currently can only create an Inventory Holdings from a MARC Bib import, and can only create MARC Holdings via MARC Holdings import or quickMARC derive) Additional questions to clarify scope:

Hi Ann-Marie Breaux, I'm attaching a 4-record marc file for testing, let me know if you need more! We will need creates and updates. The mapping of marc holdings from the file is identical to the mapping for the inventory holdings for call number from the 050, else 090; and location from the 049 $a (for Duke). (See further comments below for mapping other elements from marc bib to marc holdings) Currently Aleph only allows for one holdings per record. It would be preferable for this to match whatever FOLIO Data Import can do for inventory holdings; if it has the capacity to create multiple holdings in inventory the same should be allowed for MARC holdings. |

Jacquie will provide more details for which areas of the MARC bib to draw from for the other elements of the MARC holdings, i.e. language, record type, etc.

Hi @Ann-Marie, as Leeda mentioned, I am working on documenting what data from MARC bibs should be included in MARC holdings derived from the bib. I will attach that document here. I did have a conversation with Khalilah Gambrell recently regarding what data should be populated in FOLIO holdings when a MARC holding or FOLIO holding is derived from those data. Just FYI, in case you'd like to get some info from her, as well. |

Hi Jacquie Samples and leeda.adkins@duke.edu Thanks very much for this info. All sounds good. I'll definitely aim to connect with Khalilah Gambrell at some point, so that we can coordinate any MARC Holdings-related work. I just want to be clear that this is not work that has been scheduled yet, and we're planned out at least a few releases already, so I don't yet have any idea when this will end up being developed. |

Hi Ann-Marie Breaux, I just uploaded a preliminary MARC bib to MFHD mapping. I am not sure I included everything possible, or needed across the FOLIO community, but I think that this is a good place to start. |

Addl info from Sue Newbery at National Library of Australia: We would be creating the MARC Holdings based on fields in the MARC bib record. Thank you for adding NLA as an interested library in the Jira description. Contacted Sue to get a sample file and more details about their files and Holdings mappings |
