 Description

Current situation or problem: ** Given the current lack of user merge functionality, it would be beneficial if FOLIO could alert staff to potential duplicate user records before saving a newly created user record. This could be based on a configuration in user settings that could be turned on or off at the discretion of the library.

In scope

  • A configuration option in User settings to enable duplicate checking by name
  • A UI notification of potential duplicate records

Out of scope

  • User record merge functionality

Use case(s)

Proposed solution/stories

  • A message that appears in the users app after typing in a first and last name that says something like “Name already exists. Check for duplicate user record.”
    • This would not prevent the record from being created, but would alert staff to potential duplicates prior to save.
