 Description

Current situation or problem:
Ability to create item records in bulk with barcodes and unique incremental identification field information.

In scope
1. Bulk create a number of items that are associated with an existing instance and holdings records.
2. The new record has pre-populated:

  • barcodes with that are generated based on provided range of records
  • item record identifiers (most likely HRIDs)
  • Effective location populated based on permanent/local location on the holdings record level
  • Call number inherited from holdings record by suffix populated on the incremental values

Nice to have:
3. Loan record is created and associated with a specified user and linked with the newly created item record.
4. Item status set up to Checked out.

Use case(s)
CRL has a particular use case where a title might be requested and it is not fully processed. The example they give is a microfiche set with 200 files. In Millenium, they can put in a start number for the barcodes, and a caption, i.e. no.1, and millennium will crank out the items. Then they check them out manually.
