 Description

Current situation or problem:
Currently, when users create patron notice templates in the FOLIO user interface, they do not see any metadata information about when the template was created.

Adding in the metadata information will increase consistency across the various parts of Settings > Circulation and will reduce the potential for confusion / error, especially for libraries who are doing initial implementation of FOLIO circulation.

In scope

  • Updating the FOLIO UI so that the view screen for patron notice templates and staff slip templates shows the "record metadata" object on the screen. This includes the addition of an accordion at the top to follow the UX style for the record metadata object.
  • Redesigning the Edit screen for the staff slip template so that it follows the new accordion layout.
    • Note that there is no duplicate function for staff slips.
  • Redesigning the Edit screen and the duplicate screen for patron notice templates so that they follow the new accordion layout.

Out of scope

  • Updates to back-end storage of templates — based on cursory review, it appears that the JSON for patron notice templates and staff slip templates already contains the record metadata object, so hopefully this is just a UI update.

Use case(s)

  • A library has multiple staff working on templates as part of a FOLIO implementation. Staff Member A wants to update a template, but when going to view the template in the UI, they can see that Staff Member B updated the template a few hours ago. Rather than overwriting Staff Member B's work, they can use that information to go talk to Staff Member B to clear up any confusion.

Proposed solution/stories
UICIRC-855 Closed - staff slip view
UICIRC-856 Closed - patron notice view
UICIRC-905 Closed - staff slip edit
UICIRC-906 Closed - patron notice edit
UICIRC-907 Closed - patron notice template duplicate

Hey julie.bickle - created the UXPROD per our discussion. I think this might be UI-only, since both the staff slip object and the notice template object already have the expected record metadata stored...

Asking for input on the #ux channel about the expected approach to displaying the record metadata component, since neither screen has an accordion at the top of the view (https://ux.folio.org/docs/guidelines/components/record-metadata/)

FYI Stephanie Buck Tim Auger - this is ready for development and is ui-only. It's sitting with Vega now just because it's circ, but flagging you both in case it might be a better candidate for Volaris.

Erin Nettifee thanks! we are moving forward with adding some of these to Poppy.

Comment by Erin Nettifee [ 15/Feb/23 ]

Tim Auger strong preference for splitting if needed in doing staff slips in one chunk and patron notice templates in the other, so we don't end up with discrepancies between views

Closing as all stories are done.
