 Description

User wants to add/remove a tag at the point of creating/editing  an item record.  Currently that is not possible.  The user would have to make the item record, save and close and then click back to the item record to add the tag.

Charlotte Whitt  This is a new feature where user will be able to add and remove tag while creating/editing item record. Please prioritize the ticket

Sri Ranjan Tags is implemented in a very initial solution by now. What we can do today is only creating new tags, and assign these to records - and in Inventory we can do that to all three record types, incl. item.

Sri Ranjan Management of Tags (so deletion) is not yet implemented in FOLIO. So the current implementation is rather limited.

This feature you have written up here I believe must be captured in existing features. I'll set this ticket in Draft, and assign it to Ann-Marie Breaux, who is the PO for Tags.

Hi Sri Ranjan Thank you for creating this. I think I understand your request, but I wanted to clarify a couple things.

  1. Tags is a separate app that is used across many other apps in FOLIO. A while back, we used to call these "helper apps." I'm not sure if that term is still being used.
  2. Tags are added/deleted from the View version of a record, not the Edit version of a record. In Inventory, Instances display in the third pane of the Inventory screen, whereas Holdings and Items display as full-screen records, To add/delete a tag
  3. Because Tags are added via the "View" version of the record, rather than the Create/Edit version of the record, that means the record has to exist before tags can be added. This applies to every record type where a user can assign tags (e.g. Users, Agreements, Orders, Invoices, Organizations, Instances, Holdings, Items, Requests, Licenses, etc.). Once the record is created, tags can be added or removed very easily.
  4. I have attached a video Tags on Inventory records.mp4 showing how tags work currently on the 3 Inventory record types. I hope this will help some with the explanation.
  5. Do you think it is important to have tag assignment happen during the creation and/or edit of FOLIO records? I think that would be a pretty large revision to the structure of the tags app, since we would want to make that action happen the same way across all the record types that currently allow tags. Is it a significant inconvenience to have tag assignment happen when viewing a record, rather than when creating or updating a record?
