 Description

Current situation or problem: Ability for the Library to configure context-sensitive web services for knowledgebase targets, target objects, and OpenURL sources

In scope:
Knowledgebase targets, associated target objects, and OpenURL sources require associated web services that drive discovery layer and webscale discovery behaviors.

Out of scope

Use case(s):
These web services facilitate user discovery functions, including:

  1. ability to generate links from knowledgebase records to third-party websites (such as web search engines, LibGuides, books stores, OCLC Worldcat, Internet Archive, and Hathitrust)
  2. ability to save, print, email and/or cite knowledgebase records
  3. ability to persistently link to knowledgebase records
  4. ability to deliver e-resource content through diverse means (web access for authorized users, interlibrary loan, purchase, links to LC catalog collection holdings, etc.)
