 Description

Current situation or problem: Libraries would like to be able to create custom item statuses to support specific workflows, and customize behavior of existing item statuses. This feature is meant to encompass the work for customization of item status behavior needed in the context of the Requests app.

In scope

  • For each item status in a system, specify what types of requests are allowed (if any)

Out of scope

  • Changes to request policies or circulation rule behavior.

Use case(s)

  • By default, FOLIO allows holds to be placed on items with a Missing status. A library wants to change that and not allow holds on items with a Missing status, since they have no way of knowing when they will be able to get the item for the patron.

Proposed solution/stories

Links to additional info

  • This work and associated stories was broken off from the original feature UXPROD-1535 Draft so that the circulation work and the inventory work are represented separately. When the inventory work is done in UXPROD-1535 Draft , this work should be assessed as the stories are likely not complete.
  • Until this feature is implemented, the allowed item states for holds, recalls and page requests will be hard-coded as shown in the request whitelist document.
  • Wireframing for this was done by Cate B. as part of UXPROD-1320 Closed
