 Description

Current situation or problem: Current Requests permissions do not support some necessary "Action" oriented functionality required by users / library staff members. Users / library staff members need additional title level request permissions in order to work on specific projects.

In scope: Creating further user permissions based on use cases

Possible Use case(s):

  1. Canceling Requests - As a circulation staff member or temporary staff member working on a FOLIO Requests cleanup project, I need to be able to Cancel requests without also having the privilege of creating and / or editing request

Out of scope: Reordering queue; Editing specific fields of information within a Request; Unassigning tags from closed Request record (tentative)

  1.  Editing specific fields of information within a Request (out of scope)
    1. Edit: Request Expiration Date - As a circulation desk staff member, I want to be able to click the "Actions" dropdown within "Request Detail" and quickly update the Request Expiration Date without expanded editing privileges
    2. Edit: Request Status - As a circulation desk staff member or manager within circulation admin, I want to be able to change the Request Status of specific Requests without expanded editing privileges (Note: from within the Request Details, this does not appear to be an editable field with current Editing privileges)
    3. Edit: Pickup Service Point - As a circulation staff member, I want to be able to edit the Pickup Service Point for a material in order to accommodate customer needs or quickly adjust the Service Point if a library location or Service Point closes temporarily without having expanded editing privileges.
  2. Unassigning a tag from a closed Request record (tentatively out of scope)
    1. A tag is applied to track an item that is not on the shelf. Once this item is located, the tag will be removed so that the item isn't continuously searched for.
    2. A request is placed on an item that is problematic. For example, it has the wrong label, or the condition is poor. A label is applied so a staff member can work to address the issue. Once this is resolved, the tag should be removed since the work is complete.

Proposed solution/stories:

  • Individual permissions
  • By user group
  • By circ or loan rules
  • By service point

Stephanie Buck non-urgent question:

Who can add a tag to a Request
Who can remove a tag from a Request

Does this functionality exist in FOLIO? I didn't know that you could control who could add/remove tags yet.... Or are you just capturing requirements and haven't gotten that far yet?

Erin Nettifee, still capturing requirements.
