 Description

Current situation or problem:
Locations can be active or inactive.

If a location is inactive, it can still be used in various FOLIO functions, but may present a warning to the end user when it's used. For example, in Inventory, if you edit a holding record and assign an inactive location as the holdings permanent location, FOLIO gives you a warning popup:

This feature is to add a similar dialog to the Courses app. When I am creating a new course, or editing an existing course, and I select an inactive location from the drop-down location list, I should receive a warning message.

In scope

Out of scope

  • Modifications to search filters on the Course pane.

Use case(s)

  • A library retires a course reserve desk in a particular library but wants to retain the historical course information in the Courses UI. Adding the warning message reduces user error.

Proposed solution/stories

Links to additional info

  • Location information in courses is presented with a different modal than in Inventory, as a straight drop-down list. Absent the changing of the Courses UI to more closely mirror the Inventory UI for location lookup, it is better to present the warning rather than to simply not list the inactive location in the dropdown, so that historical use of the data in the Courses app UI can still be preserved.
