Could this be as straightforward as removing the "no" checkbox from "Staff suppress" and ("no" should be the default) and only display the "staff suppress" filter, at all, if the user has permission to view staff suppressed records (change "Yes" to "Show")? This would be the ONLY place that permission matters. If you come to a record through another means (eg. a link from another record, like a loan or order record) then it would load normally. It just wouldn't show up in search. |

Khalilah Gambrell - this is listed as a feature for Prokopovych, but I'd like to get the say on this from Falcon or your team, for us to figure out the best solution so we do not set the performance at risk. CC: Michal Kuklis |

Thomas Trutt Wendy Wilcox Holly Mistlebauer - this feature is talking about 'Suppressed records' - but for instance records we have two situation of Suppressed:
So are you talking about both states 1) + 2) , or only 1) or 2) |

Charlotte Whitt Sorry for the confusion. this issue is indeed talking about 2) Staff suppress. I spoke with Jenn Colt and lew235 for clarification on how we would like this to function.

It is our expectation at Chicago that was intended as a flag be suppressed from the Inventory View by default and that one would need to use the filter to select to display these records. Otherwise staff would need remember to select the filter to remove staff suppressed records from the search. It would be good to understand what the intention is otherwise, we may need to use other means of dealing with records that we want to have suppressed from the inventory search results by default. (Is there another solution for that in FOLIO?) |

Christie Thomas so it would be kind of the same as here at Cornell except for staff with the ' view records being Staff suppress [yes]' permission they still wouldn't see suppressed records unless they selected the option from the facet. For all other users, these items would not be shown and they would not have the option to show them. Is that correct? I think the thought here was that this permission would be assigned to a limited number of users, and those users would want to see suppressed materials to scan for mistakes. |

Khalilah Gambrell is this work we can expect to solve for Morning Glory? See my comment on 2/14/2022. I believe it will require mod-search work to be done as well. Right now I'll mark the feature as Blocked. |

Charlotte Whitt, I am unsure because I believe Magda stated this required Architect to review. |

All good Khalilah Gambrell. I'll wait for Magda Zacharska's input of the this. |

Thomas Trutt For us it would depend on the use case, but there are very few use cases where we would want to see these records by default. When staff suppress was proposed as a companion property to discovery suppress I think that the intention was that the only difference between discovery suppress and staff suppress would be that staff suppress records would be hidden from searches until selected by the user. (This is actually what is stated in the overview above.) Otherwise, I think that we at Chicago would want to revisit our use cases for using staff suppress as opposed to discovery suppress. |
