 Description

Current situation or problem: The aim is to reduce the number of clicks required to print staff slips in the Check in app. This feature covers a compromise found with the RA SIG.

In scope

  • The check box is removed, and replaced with two buttons:  Close and print  +  Close  (Mock-up in progress)
  • The service point setting determines which of the two buttons in pre-selected
  • The buttons can also be activated via keyboard navigation  (Will check the options with Khalilah)

Out of scope

Use case(s)

Proposed solution/stories

  • UX-493: UX: Update print slip modal for Check in app
  • UICHKIN-351: Print slip modal business logic in Check in, when service point setting = yes
  • UICHKIN-352: Print slip modal business logic in Check in, when service point setting = no
  • UICHKIN-353: Keyboard navigation of the print modal in Check in, when service point setting = yes
  • UICHKIN-354: Keyboard navigation of the print modal in Check in, when service point setting = no

Questions

  • Do we need a set of stories for each of the three staff slips? (Hold, Transit, Request delivery)?
  • Should I add numbering to the story titles, to show in which order they need to be completed (if necessary)? (or the use linking e.g. "blocks" instead)

Original input from Cornell: Reduce number of clicks required to print slips

Background
In mid-October 2021, Holly was asked by Cornell University Library to review various issues discovered by CUL Access Services staff while using FOLIO. Holly met with various individuals at Olin and Mann libraries and produced the CORNELL ACCESS SERVICES FOLIO OBSERVATIONS & SUGGESTIONS document, which is available at https://docs.google.com/document/d/1lwnZpkiw7G0c3EyObRRnjuV6XVMcFNK1lWUG952sFgI/edit?usp=sharing. This feature is ISSUE #2 from that document and has a priority of HIGHEST PRIORITY.

Overview
Part of the extended time in processing is due to the user having to select if a slip should be printed, clicking the print button, then dealing with the print preview. A better solution would be to remove the check box and have one button for print and one button to close the window. If the default value in Settings is “Yes”, the focus would be on the print button. If the default value is “No”, the focus would be on the close button. If there are no changes, the user just hits the an accept key.

Hi Holly Mistlebauer and julie.bickle. I'm moving this into Draft since there are no stories yet. I'll also set the fix version to TBD. Please remember to adjust the workflow status and fix version when creating new features. Thank you!!

Agree to the need to reduce extra clicks for printing slips./Marie, Chalmers

This request acutally is a requirement of  UXPROD-3480 .

After UICIRC-818 SPIKE:

This is possible. Please remember though that the browser print modal would still appear. So the “Print” button in the FOLIO modal would send you to the browser print modal.

From RA SIG 27 June 2022: This could be useful, please explore further! Also, combine it with a keyboard shortcut (not Enter though, that has been avoided on purpose).
