 Description

Current situation or problem:
Reduced scope for the German reminder fees (2/13/2023):

hebis_Reminder fees - minimal Requirements_20230213.docx

:

  • Reminders will always have a fee. Standard patron notices are sufficient to handle reminders exempt from charges.

Once  UXPROD-2015 Closed has been implemented, patrons will need to be informed. This features covers how they can be informed via email notices.

Assumptions:

  • Proposed solutions/stories are based on the mock-up in UXPROD-2015 Closed : 3-reminder-fees-update.jpg, and assumes that that UI will be completed before work on this feature starts. If the UI differs from this mock-up, then this feature may need re-writing.
  • This feature only covers email notices.
  • This feature only covers notices when the fees are charged, not when the fees are paid/actioned upon.
  • One notice will be sent per fee/fine.
  • I don't know of any additional tokens that hebis required. Are other requests in scope?
    • GBV would like to know, whether there is a request/hold on the item (yes/no). The problem with that is: This information is not stored on the loan, but calculated in the UI, so there are performance concerns there.

Proposed solution/stories

  • Make sure the Fee/Fine Charge object includes the Reminder Fee: was: MODFEE-320 now: CIRC-1906 Closed
  • Templates of category "Automated fee/fine charge" can be selected in UI:  UICIRC-903 Closed
  • Add business logic to send the notices as scheduled: MODFEE-321 Closed
  • Add business logic to cancel a scheduled Reminder fee notice: MODFEE-322 Closed
    • Charlotte Whitt confirmed with Hebis (5/16/2023) that the conditions are: A scheduled Reminder fee notice does NOT get sent out:
          • IF the item is returned + any fees are paid? (i.e. balance= 0.00)
      • only if the item is returned? - this is aligned with how the jira stories are written up

julie.bickle and Charlotte Whitt talked about time estimates for this work. And Julie pointed to UXPROD-2252 Open which is in the scope for Poppy. UXPROD-2252 Open contains some similar work, so we can compare estimates.

julie.bickle For hebis work of german reminder fees it is necessary to have a print option for the final reminder. Would it be possible that the nightly reminder job creates the reminder as a file in specific location, that is downloadable for the institution, so that print these files can be printed by the institution?

Comment by julie.bickle [ 11/Apr/23 ]

Hi Florian Ruckelshausen, appologies for my late reply.
I unfortunately don't know what is technically possible,
I know there is a draft feature to make notice available in print version: https://folio-org.atlassian.net/browse/UXPROD-1392

Thanks julie.bickle - I'll be meeting with Florian and colleagues today at 1 pm CET. Would yo be interested in attending our call - most likely not the full hour, but in the beginning of the call?

Comment by julie.bickle [ 11/Apr/23 ]

Sure, I can attend!

Comment by Charlotte Whitt [ 11/Apr/23 ]

Cool - 2 sec, I'll send you an invite

Hi Florian Ruckelshausen at our next SME meeting I'd like for us to identify, which of the stories written up by Julie, we aim for developing for Poppy or is this work all Quesnelia?

Comment by Charlotte Whitt [ 13/Apr/23 ]

I have experimented writing up a patron notice (3rd reminder) in the Bugfest Orchid environment - based on the example I got from Florian Ruckelshausen - https://docs.google.com/document/d/1QBe9wChGOKjOmkgBPBlpKvJd1yNHyI-aP7txXxHBvJM/edit
