The purpose of
For circulation, we need a positive sound for successful actions and a negative sound for unsuccessful actions. The sound needs to get the attention of the user without being jarring. For this UXPROD, the PO will be reviewing the circulation sounds for all 3 options and making recommendations for different sounds. These recommendations will be shared with the RA SIG for approval. Free sounds have been located at https://mixkit.co/free-sound-effects/bleep/, but there are likely others available. |

Thank you for creating, Holly Mistlebauer! Cheryl Malmborg, what do you think of "Confirmation tone" or "Digital quick tone" for positive and "Tech break fail" for error? https://mixkit.co/free-sound-effects/bleep/ (bottom of the page)? |

It's easy to add multiple pairs of sounds. If you can provide me with pairs of m4a-format audio files (one each for successful and unsuccessful) checkout, and name for each new theme that is used to select them, I can see to it. Libraries can then pick the pairs they prefer. (Bear in mind that the connotations of some sounds will be different for libraries in different cultures.) |

I would propose digital quick tone for positive and tech break fail for negative. Not sure on a theme name – maybe Bleep? I defer to Cheryl Malmborg in the end, but that would be my vote. Also tagging Erin Weller for feedback as she noted the existing tones during her pre-live circulation testing and may have an opinion. |

I am closing this because we cannot seem to come to an agreement on what are acceptable sounds. I think a better approach would be to provide a way to let institutions to install their own sounds. |
