 Description

Current situation or problem: Currently, in the Check out app, when a patron record is retrieved in the left pane, a pop-up message appears if the patron has items on hold at that service point. For some service points that pop-up is desirable, but for other service points the pop-up is not desirable. They would like the ability to configure pop-up behavior depending on which service point is selected for the logged in FOLIO user.

In scope

  • adding setting option to service point configuration to indicate if "Items awaiting pickup" modal should appear.
  • changes to ui-checkout to include logic for the user lookup so that it displays the pop-up only if the service point is configured to display the pop-up.

Out of scope

  • changes to the content of the "Items awaiting pickup" modal - we're just wanting to modify when the modal appears, not what is on it

Use case(s): A library has a service point that is exceptionally busy - patrons expect to come up, check out books, and leave. The library wants the pop-up disabled at the service point so that they can provide faster service to patrons (who normally let them know if they also have holds.)

Proposed solution/stories

  • Update service point schema in mod-inventory-storage - story to be written by development team
  • UITEN-235 Open (Firebird)
  • UICHKOUT-803 Open (Vega)

Links to additional info

  • When this is implemented, all existing service points in an installation should be set to display the "Items awaiting pickup" modal by default. Libraries could then go into their settings and turn it off for service points where they want it off.
