 Description

Update:  Approved as R1 2021 Hot Fix at Capacity Planning Team meeting on May 17, 2021.   If it will be too much work to complete by June 18 freeze, will need to at least add error processing.

Several libraries have requested a change for how quickMARC handles MARC 006/00. Currently, quickMARC overrides anything that has been set for MARC 006/00 with the Leader/06 value. This is a data integrity issue as what is populated for Leader/06 should not impact MARC 006/00.

*This feature supports *

  • Removing the logic that overrides a MARC 006/00 value with the Leader/06 value
  • quickMARC passing the MARC 006/00 to the quickMARC UI and APIs
  • Allow quickMARC users the ability to update MARC 006/00 value on the UI

Lehigh University is seeing the dropping of the 006 position zero on import, without editing in quickMARC. We can still see the 006 in the SRS, but not via quickMARC

Lisa McColl, we are still working on this issue and the plan is to have it ready for Iris Hotfix #2. Which environment are you experiencing this issue?

Comment by Khalilah Gambrell [ 28/May/21 ]

Lisa McColl, I am unaware of the 006 position zero being dropped on import. From what I have observed this issue is only happening when a user edits in quickMARC. Also when you say dropped do you mean it does not include 006 position zero in the response or the UI?

Have you observed this issue when creating new bib records via data import? OR when updating records via data import?

Khalilah Gambrell - I was not seeing it in quickMARC even though the record was not saved. However, I now understand that is quickMARC's interpretation and that manifestation of the record is not saved anywhere until the quickMARC record is saved itself. So, there is no edition to this JIRA. I thought the problem should not appear in quickMARC until I actually saved it, but I understand that is known behavior.
