 Description

Current situation or problem:

Some libraries may handle/process requests differently based on the requesting user's departmental affiliation. To make this easier, it would be helpful to be able to include the user's department(s) on pick, hold, and delivery request slips.

In scope

  • Requester department(s) token for staff slips

Out of scope

  • Requester department(s) token for patron notices

Use case(s)

  • A library does not provide paging of items for staff or faculty whose departments are in the library from which the items would be paged, but do not want to have separate patron groups for those faculty to prevent them from entering the request. Library staff will just cancel them during processing and reach out to the faculty or staff to let them know about this policy. To make this easier, it would be helpful if the requester's departments were included on pick slips.
  • A library provides item delivery to departmental offices. Patrons select a "Campus delivery" pickup location when creating their request, but the actual delivery location is based on the user's department(s)

Proposed solution/stories

  • Provide a single token that concatenates the array of departments in the user record into a tenant locale-appropriate series string (eg. "English, Classical Languages, and Sociology" or "Inglés, Lenguas Clásicas y Sociología")
  • Provide a token that must utilize the "loop" syntax, as in notices with multiple loans. eg.:
    {{#departments}}{{department}}{{/departments}
