 Description

Current situation or problem: If a loan is recalled and the recall is subsequently cancelled or moved to another item, the loan is still treated as though it has been recalled meaning:

  • Current borrower still has to bring the item back early
  • If they are late returning the item:
    • They may have to pay elevated fees and fines (if there is an elevated "overdue recall fine" configured in Settings > Circulation > Overdue fine policies)
    • They may be blocked (depending on the patron block settings configured in Settings > Users > Patron blocks). Relevant conditions:
      • Recall overdue by maximum number of days
      • Maximum number of overdue recalls

In scope

  • This needs to be configurable, as not all institutions want it. Ideally, the configuration would live in the loan policy (in the Recalls accordion)
  • Assuming the loan policy calls for this:
    • When the last recall on a loan is cancelled or moved to another item, the "dueDateChangeByRecall" flag should be unset
    • Patron should be notified that the recall on their loan has been cancelled
    • Their due date should revert to the original due date
    • A row should be added to the Loan action history indicating that the recall was cancelled or moved and what the new due date is
    • If the item is returned late:
      • Regular overdue fine should apply (as opposed to overdue recall fine)
      • Recall-related patron blocks should not be applied
    • If the item is recalled again, it will be treated as though it is the first recall meaning:
      • Patron will be notified
      • Due date will be modified
      • Etc.
