 Description

Current situation or problem
A patron may be unable to check out any items because of a patron block or because they are expired. A user may be able to override a failed check out for an individual item ( UXPROD-1130 Closed , UXPROD-2244 Closed ), but if an expired user or a user blocked from borrowing has many items to check out, overriding each individual check out will be cumbersome.

In scope

  • Allow users to make the decision to override a patron block or an expiration date once and apply that override to subsequent check outs in a check out session

Out of scope

Use case(s)

Proposed solution/stories

  • When user with borrowing block or past expiration date is entered in Check Out app, then inform staff user of issue and allow session-length override
  • If the staff user does not override the borrowing block at beginning of the session, prompt them to override block for individual items
  • If the staff user does override the borrowing block and/or expiration date at the beginning of the session, allow staff user to check out items to patron. Continue to prompt for overrides/disallow check out if they are triggered by item (e.g., item/patron combo triggers non-circulating loan policy, item is requested by another patron, item limit reached)

Darcy Branchini: Should this feature be assigned to you?

Holly Mistlebauer, yes, but I believe we're covering this in scope of UXPROD-2127 Closed and UXPROD-1130 Closed .
