 Description

Current situation or problem: The current calendar graphical interface is difficult to use. It is very sensitive to the position of the cursor and slight hesitations when dragging the cursor. With many font sizes it is impossible to enter a full day's hours without scrolling.

We've also identified potential performance issues that need to also be addressed.

A writeup of current concerns was presented to the Product Council and can be found here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1LFid36nRJHntOPzgeCKMwxQAffk4jf-7uD8LgpmWhqM/edit?usp=sharing

RA SIG members were surveyed about the expected "size" of their calendars, to help inform discussions around performance. That information is here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1BcEgzdODxl6I3LISKqAteC5A055ZLh5D2jfUUByarJA/edit?usp=sharing

Hi Holly Mistlebauer Darcy Branchini do we know who will be picking up this work after Emma Boettcher?

This comment was filed last night on Slack related to bug report SUP-29:

Sorry, Molly Driscoll. I brought this up with Cheryl in the past and I somewhat assumed it was a result of how I was populating the calendar via the APIs. Overall, the calendar UI is a mess. There's a UXPROD (https://folio-org.atlassian.net/browse/UXPROD-2657) to revise the it, but it's still in draft. Thankfully, it doesn't seem to affect the backend functionality.

Charlotte Whitt: I believe this feature should be assigned to Cheryl Malmborg. Cheryl, please confirm. Thanks...

Holly Mistlebauer, maybe. I'm not sure.
The feature was discussed at Monday's Support SIG meeting.

Cheryl Malmborg any progress on deciding when this will be slated for development? This decision affects whether or not we transition UI-CAL tests to Jest/RTL or not. If it's relatively soon or shortly after the test deadline, then I'd propose that we wait until this feature is completed so that we aren't doing the Jest/RTL tests task twice. cc: Dmitriy Litvinenko Anton Emelianov

Darcy Branchini I have not made any progress. I think I need advice on how to move this along. would it be appropriate to talk about on Tuesday?

Cheryl Malmborg If designs are ready, then stories need to be written. If designs are still in flux, then what do you feel the roadblocks are? I can either meet with you on our own or if you think it requires developer inputs then we can meet with the Vega team. What do you think?

Comment by Cheryl Malmborg [ 24/May/21 ]

Darcy Branchini I think the design is finalized from the RA SIG viewpoint. I will write some stories before asking for developer inputs.

Sounds good, Cheryl Malmborg, please let me know if you want help or have questions.
