Estimation Notes and Assumptions: Assume a local browser setting for FOLIO set in Settings or something. This would allow it to be sticky for a certain workstation so it doesn't need to be selected every time you log in. We could give people the permission to select at log in, if they need to set or change the processing center associated with a workstation.

 Description

Planned approach based on recent conversations with the RA SIG:

  1. FOLIO users (operators) are assigned service points they can work with along with a default service point. This is done in the user record. Need to discuss with the SIG what happens if a FOLIO operator doesn’t have any associated service points.
  2. When the user logs in, the default service point is used for all transactions that need it (check out, check in etc).
  3. However, some apps may offer the ability to temporarily override the default service point. The check in app is a good example of this (see "process as" menu which contains service points in which I am authorized to do work): https://drive.google.com/file/d/15xPYg6tEc8VDpn_ZFmGLT0B4B31Y5dW-/view?usp=sharing. Changing the service point in the context of the check in app will _not _change it for any other apps.
  4. However, it should also be possible to change the service point for all apps. Since this is a cross-app function, we thought it would make sense to put the selection menu in user preferences. Here is a mockup of some password functionality we had also planned for user preferences to give you an idea of where this would go: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1HHldPSwdnASsV6qUPlQNmhno5J9B-gOU/view?usp=sharing

Need a way to have a work station "logged in" to FOLIO as a certain processing center (e.g. the workstation at circ desk 1 is recording transactions as associated with the processing center by the same name).

From Jakub: Assume a local browser setting for FOLIO set in Settings. This would allow it to be "sticky" for a certain workstation so it doesn't need to be selected every time you log in. We could also have a permission that would give select people the permission to select a workstation at the time of log in. This would be needed for new workstation setup or if they need to change the processing center associated with a workstation.
