 Description

This was originally created as a User Story, but it should have been a Feature. Holly moved it to UXPROD on July 22, 2020.

Purpose: Be able to use tenant-defined controlled vocabulary for the "Display description" field of the User block

As a staff person
I want to be able to use pre-defined controlled phrases for the "Display description" field when blocking a patron
So that the wording is consistent for other other staff viewing the block information in the future

Scenarios

Holly Mistlebauer, Ann-Marie assigned me this, but since it's patron blocks I think it's more your area. If you agree, could you assign it accordingly? (I see Cate Boerema has been tagged for triaging as well, so maybe I'm jumping ahead in my Friday afternoon JIRA cleanup.)

Ann-Marie Breaux and Cate Boerema- There are three categories of patron blocks: Manual patron blocks, automated item blocks, and automated patron blocks. Automated item blocks and automated patron blocks will have pre-defined descriptions because these are the common/standard blocks. Manual patron blocks (the only one implemented right now) are for one-offs that don't fit within the automated blocks. Because of this, it doesn't make sense for them to have pre-defined values. I suspect Chalmers is using manual patron blocks for everything because they don't have automated item blocks and automated patron blocks. If I could see some of the descriptions they use it would help we see if this is true. Thanks!

Lisa Sjögren Siska Marie Widigson Hi Chalmers folks! Please see Holly's comment above. Could you provide some sample patron block info?

Hello Ann-Marie Breaux and Holly Mistlebauer!

Here are some examples that are manual but we want predefined values for:
Library card lost
Wrong address
Bill sent (these are sent manually)
Check social security number

Thanks for the input. This will have to be something where pre-defined value can be selected or a new value entered on the fly. The pre-selected values will need to be in a settings table. I will talk to the SIG about this.

I believe UXPROD-2269 Closed , which is being developed by Leipzig, renders this UXPROD a duplicate...

This was handled when patron block templates were implemented.
