 Description

Purpose:
For externally created/managed entities that are stored in FOLIO, metadata creators must be able to add additional data. Examples of this include the addition of alternative prefered labels for use in local systems (e.g.: "Illegal aliens" has-alt-pref-label-of "Undocumented immigrants", etc.). Update processes for cached datasets must not overwrite these data.

Use case:
Different libraries currently have different practices around local divergence from national practice. Some change source data; others reflect changes only in the discovery layer and manage documentation of those changes external to their LMS. The Entities App should afford an institution to edit these data and manage those edits.

Dependencies/Context:
Reliant on having completed "Cache external authorities/entities" ( UXPROD-2516 Open ).

Notes from the Entity Management Working Group:
At Duke, we share a discovery layer with the rest of TRLN, where updating preferred labels is handled outside the ILS/LSP. No authority records are edited to provide updated language for the labels. In this way, when a heading is modernized, the authority records are updated, and then the discovery layer labels are changed "automatically."

Suggestion from Cornell: It would be nice to know if this would be done by creating a local entity and linking to the external entity.

TBD: Do we need a separate feature to edit/add new data to external datasets when the external dataset enables this through APIs.
