| Potential Workaround: | Tiziana: this is a heavy function for both the back-end and the front-end. We are evaluating whether it is easier to include the equivalent record function in MARCcat, to be used at go-live as a workaround | ||||||||||||||||||||

Just to clarify; all the examples are for bib records, not Holdings records. Was that intentional, or should this updated to describe using 880s in bibliographic records? |

Hi Jacquie Samples It's definitely holdings records. This Holdings feature was cloned from the Bib 880 feature (

Yes, it was a clone because 880 exists in the MARC for holdings format (https://www.loc.gov/marc/holdings/hd880.html) and this information may be defined at holding level and not at bibliographic level. But nobody requested it as a priority/requirement, so it may be closed. |

Hi Ann-Marie Breaux and cristina. Thanks for the follow-up. I was asking primarily because we don't have any 880s in holdings records, so sorry about having no examples. That being said, when the local Duke MM team discussed this yesterday, we agreed that this could be useful in the future, and for libraries that catalog in languages that require other scripts. We can also imagine using these fields for Chinese-, Japanese, or Korean-language serials to record vernacular designation and chronology data. But, that is not our practice right now. |

As of Jan 2021, development of MARCcat has ceased. Will incorporate some features into quickMARC. |
