 Description

Current situation or problem: Currently any created users custom fields will display in the custom field accordion which has a configurable title. However, it is currently not possible to set custom fields to display in other accordions on the user’s record. This feature would add a configuration option under Settings>Users>Custom Fields to set which accordion the custom will be displayed under.

In scope

  • New configuration dropdown for each custom field created, under Settings > Users > Custom Fields allowing the user to select which accordion the custom field should be displayed under. All accordions should be included as options:
    • User Information
    • Patron Blocks
    • Extended Information
    • Contact Information
    • Custom Fields (named as configured under settings)
    • Proxy/sponsor
    • Fees/fines
    • Loans
    • Requests
    • User Permissions
    • Service Points
    • Notes
  • Custom fields should display only under the accordion set in settings and not under the custom field accordion (unless that is what has been selected)

Out of scope

  • Creation of any additional custom accordions
  • Configuration for displaying custom fields in other FOLIO apps

Use case(s)

  • An institution would like a custom field to be displayed at the top of a user record so no additional scrolling or clicking is required to view the information. (e.g. a pronouns field)
  • An institution would like a custom field to be displayed alongside other related fields which already exist within FOLIO

Duke will rank this go-live because it is the suggested workaround to 2490. If 2490 ends up going in time for Round IV implementers, then we could downgrade this to up to a quarter.

Cornell: a small group evaluated the options for Cornell with regard to Patron Codes. It appears that the combination of the Department field and Custom fields will provide the solution that Cornell needs. Testing of custom fields and reporting from them can begin with GoldenRod. Testing of Department fields and reporting from them can begin with Honeysuckle. The Cornell Patron Feed will be modified to accommodate the Patron Code reporting needs identified in REP-221 Closed .
