 Description

Dec 2019 - split from:

  • UXPROD-1684 Closed DONE (multiple items on overdue and courtesy notices)
  • UXPROD-2187 Closed DONE (multiple items on check in and check out receipt notices)

Jan 2020 - split from:

Current Situation or Problem: A separate notice is sent for each new fee/fine charge and/or each action (payment, transfer, waive, refund or cancel) taken on a fee/fine. This feature covers work to allow multiple fee/fine charges or multiople fee/fine actions to be listed in one single notice template.

In scope:

  • Bundle aged to lost fee/fines into a single notice (“Multiples”) when charging: Overnight : UXPROD-3998
  • Bundle overdue fines into a single notice (“Multiples”) when charging: At check-in : UXPROD-3999 Closed
  • Create a new patron notice policy trigger, to configure a template for actioning on automated aged to lost fees/fines : UXPROD-4000 Draft
  • Create a new patron notice policy trigger, to configure a template for paying automated overdue fines : UXPROD-4001 Draft
  • Bundle aged to lost fees/fines into a single notice (“Multiples”) when actioning :
  • Bundle overdue fines into a single notice (“Multiples”) when actioning :
  • Bundle manual fines into a single notice (“Multiples”) when charging :
  • Bundle manual fines into a single notice (“Multiples”) when actioning :
  • Bundle reminder fees into a single notice ("Multiples") when charging :
  • Bundle reminder fees into a single notice ("Multiples") when actioning :

Out of scope

  • Querying patrons to find all patrons matching a specific criteria and then sending an ad hoc notice to just those patrons (see UXPROD-1771 Draft ). Examples include all patrons with a specific outstanding balance of $100 or greater or all patrons graduating this Spring with overdue loans.
  • Fee/fine statements : UXPROD-2113
  • Different actions and/or charges in a single notice :   (Consider using sessions on the fee/fine history and/or details page for bundling multiple actions)
  • Multiple actions taken on multiple fees/fines in a single notice (fee/fine history page) :
  • Need to be able to show historical actions on a fee/fine charge :

Questions:

  • Do we actually need new multiple tokens, for the fees?

Darcy Branchini, do you have a sense as to whether this feature will make Juniper?

Comment by Darcy Branchini [ 15/Jan/21 ]

Erin Nettifee, in reviewing patron notice features, this is at the top of my list. I can't promise anything since we haven't been planning the Juniper release yet, but if patron notices gets capacity, it's my understanding that we should spend that time/resources on this.

That makes sense - thanks Darcy Branchini

Hi all julie.bickle Darcy Branchini - is that back end estimate on this feature still correct?

Comment by Charlotte Whitt [ 23/Apr/21 ]

Yes, Erin Nettifee - I was exactly wondering the same re. the estimates of this feature:

Front End Estimate: Large < 10 days
Back End Estimate: XXXL: 30-45 days
Confidence factor: Medium

Darcy Branchini There's no name on the developer(s) who have done those estimates - do you maybe remember?
And I'm also wondering if those estimates might have been copied over from the original jira feature, which this UXPROD is a `split` from.

Comment by Erin Nettifee [ 26/Apr/21 ]

Darcy Branchini this feature needs to also encompass batching for the original fee/fine notice (the charge) in addition to pay, waive, transfer, error, refund

Does it make sense for that batching feature to be a separate feature?

Comment by Darcy Branchini [ 14/Jul/21 ]

Erin Nettifee, I imagined that to be part of this feature. A library might choose to send a notice with multiple charges and multiple "actions" to a single patron.

Comment by Erin Nettifee [ 14/Jul/21 ]

Ah, gotcha. I wasn't picking up on the charges and actions part in the title.

julie.bickle will this be ready to start work in Lotus? Do you have any sense of that yet?

Comment by Debra Howell [ 03/Dec/21 ]

julie.bickle checking in on this...any updates on when this feature might be included in a release?

Comment by julie.bickle [ 06/Dec/21 ]

Hello folks, I need to split this feature, re-write the stories and write a number of more stories. I realise this has high priority; I aim to have something ready for development before I go on Xmas break.

Comment by Erin Weller [ 13/Oct/22 ]

I'm not sure if this fits here but at Michigan State, we need to print receipts when a fee/fine is waived or paid. We currently have to use a snipping tool to capture the information we need for auditors, and it is awful.

Hi julie.bickle - will also the Reminder Fees (new work to be done as part of UXPROD-2015 Closed ) also be an option when handling multiple fee/fine charges or actions (pay, waive, transfer, error or refund) on a single notice for a patron?

Hi Charlotte Whitt at some point it will be an option, yes - but not by Poppy, unfortunately. I don't know yet when the necessary work will be done for multiples to be in reminder notices (chages, and actions).

Comment by Charlotte Whitt [ 01/Mar/23 ]

Okay julie.bickle - should we maybe clone this ticket, and make sure the requirements for reminder fees are captured, and that it will not be 'forgotten' - when we get to have UXPROD-2015 Closed work accomplished?

Comment by julie.bickle [ 01/Mar/23 ]

Charlotte Whitt I am using this feature like an epic (instead of deleting it and starting from scratch), where I am putting all the features that related to multiple fee/fines in notices. The list of features (some not written yet) is under "In Scope".
My gut says that there is a fair bit of work to happen first before all expectations for UXPROD-3461 Closed and by that I mean work that does not relate directly to what hebis wants. It's on my list to be able to explain that better.
