 Description

UXPROD-2250 Draft is an alternate solution to this one--UXPROD-2250 is the preferred solution from a usability and processing time perspective.

At the Resource Access SIG meeting on November 7, 2019, it was agreed that we would add the Loan Limit to the Loan Policy rather than having a separate Loan Limit Policy for the MVP. This will save quite a bit of time. The feature is for implementing the Loan Limit Policy post-MVP if it is still needed. The user stories that were written for the MVP feature UXPROD-1591 Closed (Automated Item Blocks)) have been transferred to this feature as "is defined by."

Note: Chicago, Lehigh and Cornell expressed that they do not need the Loan Limit to be in a separate policy. Duke expressed that they definitely do, otherwise they will need to create many extra Loan Policies. Holly is waiting to hear back from FLO, UA and TAMU.

Loan Limit Groups ( UXPROD-2250 Draft ) would be a potential alternative, I think.

We're starting to write our loan policies and had a question this morning about limits for loan policies. The example given is that one library might have a 4-hour loan that is applied to a circulation rule, and they'd like only 1 of those material types to be allowed. The same library may use the 4-hour loan policy to a different material type and allow 3 of those material types.

Reported by Anne L. Highsmith on Slack...item blocks are working as expected...

Howdy, I have a question about how loan-policy-based item limits work. I have a user who has 34 items checked out from main library and 17 items checked out from a branch library for a total of 51. Global limit on items checked out for the user's patron group is 100. I put a limit of 25 into the loan policy that applies to the branch library, then tried to check out a branch library item to that patron. System responded: Patron has reached maximum limit of 25 items for combination of patron group and loan type. Then I checked out a main library item to that patron and it checked out okay. I was hoping, based on the fact that the "limited" policy allowed 25 and the user had only 17 checked out under that policy that I could check out an additional 8 items. In this case is the limit working as expected? The error message referred to the combo of patron group and loan type, yet the item that successfully checked out from main library had the same loan type as the item from the branch library that didn't.

UXPROD-2250 Draft is the preferred solution.
